Recycled Garden,
Gorleston
This family garden
originally had little in the way of planting and was predominantly covered with
crazy paving.
We aimed to re-use as many of the original materials as possible which keeps
costs down and is more environmentally friendly. Some of the crazy paving was
taken up and relaid as pathways while some was used as a dry-stone wall to retain
the shrub borders along the driveways. The remaining paving was re-used as hardcore
for the paths and patio area. The childrens' old play sheds have been converted
into composting units by hinging the roofs. Materials from the collapsing retaining
wall dividing the upper and lower gardens were reused and combined with eco-friendly
railway sleepers.
